Introduction

"Changes in human behavior patterns with cultural evolution throughout the millennia have had the greatest impact on the evolution of human diseases." 1 Migration, colonization, shifts from hunter-gatherer to agrarian societies, and the domestication of animals are some of the cultural changes that have had profound effects on the evolution of disease. Similarly, some infectious diseases have had profound effects on cultures throughout history.
