1985): 772-797. This issue features the amazing face of Sharbat Gula whose identity was unknown for seventeen years as she lived the typically anonymous life of a Pashtun woman.

2002. Despite its factual content, the report is presented in an appealing manner with lots of photos, color and bold statistics.

Includes all six Chapters of the Population and Family Planning Law adopted by the PRC in December 2001. Very dry political document, but useful as a primary source.

Ireland. Vol. 12 No. 4 Winter, 2004. A fascinating article that seeks to understand the origins of Travellers in Ireland and how public opinion came to represent one popular consensus in the past fifty years.

by John King. London: Hurst & Company, 2005. Traveling during war, a journalist explores the country and speaks with those on the fringes of power. Long focus on the social foundations of the Afghan state and political background. Very complete history in an engaging, if dry, manner.

Lemmer, Eleanor, and Joan Squelch. Multicultural Education: A Teacher's Manual.

Atlanta: Southern Book Publishers, 1993. Increasing diversity in the school system necessitates a change in the learning environments. Each module explains terms and concepts of a particular theme and includes great activity ideas.

McLoone, Martin. Irish Film: The Emergence of a Contemporary Cinema. London:

British Film Institute, 2000. Contemporary Ireland and the cinema it produces and inspires. Explores the definition of "Irishness".

Nivat, Anne. The Wake of War: Encounters with the People of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Boston: Beacon Press, 2005. Engaging travel diary that imparts historical context and cultural explanations amid conversations and experiences. Very useful for excerpts about everyday people.

Theroux, Paul. Dark Star Safari: Overland from Cairo to Cape Town. Boston:

Houghton Mifflin Company, 2003. Travel diary with tremendously varied subjects who discuss the state of affairs in Africa. Great for reading excerpts to class.
