E1a The student will read at least twenty-five books from a variety of genres and authors during the school year.

Writing Standards

  • E2b The student will respond in writing to literature she has read using a variety of organizational and writing strategies designed to enhance her writing and help it appeal to her designated audience.
  • E4a and b The student will adhere to appropriate grammar and usage rules.

Response to Literature Standards

E5a The student will analyze and respond to literature by Inferencing and making predictions about what she is reading, determining the author's purpose for writing, understanding how the author uses the various literature elements (plot, characterization, setting, conflict, irony, etc.), and offering her own opinions about the text.
