Overview

In this unit, I would like the students to meet three objectives. I would like students to understand the history of the Dine Nation. So many students see the pictures of our past leaders and do not ask who they are. The history behind the past leaders is vitally important for our heritage of land and culture. Students need to explore it with honor. Once that objective is covered under background knowledge, I want our 4 th grade students to learn about eloquence. How did the speeches of the past leaders in the 1800's improve our being today? How did eloquence help us get our land (Dine Tah). The final objective is to learn that the Native American Indians have eloquence that is tied to its leadership.
