This painting on display at the Yale Center for British Art depicts industrialization in its early stages in England, a scene Jens Jensen would have also seen and experienced.

As I researched about the “prairie movement” in the United States, I learned that a woman named Gertrude Jekyll became well known for her designs that integrated natural setting into her clients’ gardens in England.
