Conclusion

Students will be taking a deep dive into the S.T.E.A.M of popcorn. This process will give them great comprehension of how artists brainstorm, research, sketch, edit ideas, and design in order to participate in the art process.  Students will see firsthand that art making is not just placing lines, colors, shapes, and art materials together; it is a deep reflection, creative process, and a unique response to process something else.  Students will see that their still life popcorn is connecting or transforming to something bigger, deeper than what is present on the page.  This S.T.E.A.M. popcorn art unit is an introductory art unit revealing the design art process so students will see through their own trial and errors that rarely is art created for no intended purpose.  The art project has an overarching theme which is transformations and personal growth through S.T.E.A.M.  I want to close this unit with the hope that students rethink comparing themselves to anyone else since we all pop at different times.  I also want this unit to be a reminder that vaping is bad and can give you popcorn lungs which are not reversible, so I am hoping through conversations during this unit of study that conversation come up amongst students to “Just say no”.
