School Profile

East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) is a public school district located in San José, California. ESUHSD consists of 11 comprehensive high schools, 1 middle college, 5 alternative education schools, 2 adult transition school sites, and 2 adult education school sites. Silver Creek High School (SCHS) is one of the eleven comprehensive high schools within ESUHSD that has the capacity to have a student population of about 2,300 students. During the 2025-2026 school year, SCHS had a student population of 2,043 students consisting of 48.5% socioeconomically disadvantaged and 12.3% of students who are identified as English Language Learners. With respect to race and ethnicity, 57.3% of the students are identified as Asian, 34.3% Hispanic, and the remaining 8.4% of the school population consists of Filipino, Black/African American, American Indian/Native American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, White, and students who self-identify as two or more races[1]. SCHS offers general education courses in the core content areas of mathematical, social science, science, and English, while offering several elective courses, including Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), Business Academy, Theater Tech, and 21 different Advance Placement (AP) courses offered across six disciplines (social science, visual arts, English, mathematics, science, and world languages).

The school mascot for SCHS are the Raiders and has embraced the motto, “We Lead. Others Follow.” which is a phrase that was developed in the early years of the school’s creation. Each year, students and staff are expected to engage in “The CREEK Way.” This entails adhering to five habits of mind that students and staff should maintain throughout their time on campus and beyond: Creative: Every Raider is willing to take risks, fail, and grow.  Respectful: Every Raider respects themselves, others, property, and community. Equitable: Every Raider has or creates opportunities to be successful. Engaged: Every Raider is actively involved in the school community. Kind: Every Raider interacts with empathy and supports others.[2]
