Introduction:
This curriculum unit plan is for my sixth grade, Navajo Students at Kayenta Boarding School.
My curriculum unit title is “We are a family on this Earth through Earth’s resources. The students will begin asking wh- questions such as what, where, when, why, and how, which are at a basic level of questioning. With guidance, students will advance to critical-thinking questions, such as analysis, evaluation, and creativity.
In the Next Generation Science Standards, I will be using LS2 Interactions, energy, and dynamic relationships in ecosystems. LS2 disciplinary core idea is divided into three sub-ideas: Interdependent relationships in ecosystems; the cycle of matter and energy transfer in ecosystems; and ecosystem dynamics, functioning, and resilience. These standards will help students better understand ecosystems, the flow of energy in nature, and Earth’s resources.
I need to get students ready to take the Bureau of Indian Education End of Year Summative Assessment using Bureau of Indian Education’s Science Summative assessment for 8th grade. This will give sixth grade students enough time to learn about Earth Biomes and their Ecosystems.
