Heart Disease, Transplants and New Technology

byDeborah Smithey

The curriculum unit is designed for students taking a biological science course. Cardiovascular disease claims the life of a large number of people. It is important for individuals to know that you can greatly reduce the risk of developing heart disease by simply changing your lifestyle. The medical community will be overwhelmed when the number young individuals suffering from heart disease rises. The major cause for the increase is dietary intake. Students are constantly eating foods high in fatty content. Their cholesterol levels are extremely high and many students suffer from obesity. It is important to for students to become knowledgeable about how their behavior patterns will affect that lifestyle in the future.
