Role Play Exercise Rubric

Instructions: Students should follow closely this outline and meet the criteria listed to score the highest possible score on this exercise.

  • A. Perform an 8-12 minute reenactment representing your chosen historical figure. Make sure to clearly articulate the side of the debate you have chosen so that your fellow students can learn from the presentation. This should not be exact quotation, but rather, you creation driven by the research you have done with regard to your topic.
  • B. Provide your classmates with an outline of the material you will cover. Keep in mind that you may use the LCD projector to display the outline if you'd rather not make copies.
  • C. Listen carefully to the arguments of your opposition in that I will expect each person to be prepared to do at least one rebuttal lasting approximately 2-4 minutes.
  • D. Each of the sections above will be timed, so be sure to practice.
  • E. You will be expected to answer questions from the audience and should familiarize yourself with the historical context of your argument so that you are not caught off guard.
  • F. Please do all that you can to authenticate this presentation including proper attire, props or visuals.

Grading will be as follows:

  • I. Presentation
  • a. Credible information- 20 points
  • b. Clarity- 20 points
  • c. Proper time- 15 points
  • d. Rebuttal and questions- 15 points
  • II. Outline
  • a. Clearly written- 10 points
  • b. Accurate information- 10 points
  • III. Authentication- 10 points
