Sack was education curator at the Brooklyn Museum when this curriculum was created. She is now at the Yale Art Gallery and directed me to the unit "Women and Portraiture."

Fleischman, Paul, and Eric Beddows. Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices. New York: Harper & Row, 1988. These poems are the inspiration for the side-by-side poetry activity. Use them as examples to practice the side-by-side concept where two people read a poem sometimes taking turns and sometimes reading in unison.

Krashen, Stephen D. Principles and Practice in Second Language Acquisition. New York: Pergamon Press Inc, 1982. Krashen is an expert researcher from the University of Southern California whose work has been proven by subsequent research. This book is offered in a free pdf version.

Pellico, Linda Honan, Linda Friedlaender, and Kristopher Fennie. "Looking Is Not Seeing: Using Art to Improve Observational Skills." Journal of Nursing Education 48, no. 11 (2009): 648-653. Linda Friedlainder is Curator of Education at the Yale Center for British Arts. She collaborated with Yale's nursing instructors to enhance perception. The techniques apply to school groups on tour at the art museum.
