Students formulate and apply volume as an attribute of three-dimensional space. They understand that volume can be measured by finding the total number of same-size units of volume required to fill the space without gaps or overlaps. They understand that a 1-unit by 1-unit by 1-unit cube is the standard unit for measuring volume. They select appropriate units, strategies, and tools for solving problems that involve estimating and measuring volume. They decompose three-dimensional shapes and find volumes of right rectangular prisms by viewing them as decomposed into layers of arrays of cubes. They measure necessary attributes of shapes in order to determine volumes to solve real world and mathematical problems.7

5.NF.A.2.& 6 Solve word problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication of fractions referring to the same whole, including cases of unlike denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem. Use benchmark fractions and number sense of fractions to estimate mentally and assess the reasonableness of answers.

5.NF.B.7.B Solve real world problems involving division of unit fractions by non-zero whole numbers and division of whole numbers by using visual models and unit fractions to represent the problem.

5.G.B.4. Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
