Teaching Strategies

Since I will be working with English language learners, my focus will be on reading comprehension skills, with emphasis on writing and speaking. Most students I teach, enter the classroom with little no ability to read, write, or speak the English language. Another factor is that many students are now entering the classroom with no ability to read in their native language. Another problem is many students have gaps within the years they attend school or have attended school. So, a big strategy is to have begin with what they know in a simple English format or something that involves them identifying words or listening to words that they might know.
