Rationale

I selected these topics because my students need to understand their clan system and why it is important. About 99% of my students are Navajo and 1% are others. These topics address the Navajo and Arizona State Standards, so they hit many targets with one stone. The seminar Asking Questions in Biology emphasized that students should question their learning and think about their thinking (meta-cognition). Question types vary, progressing from basic recall to complex, evaluated, and creative questions. Several questioning strategies and classroom activities help students begin asking questions and feel confident using questioning techniques for enduring understanding.
