My Philosophy of Visual Arts Instruction

As a professional photographer, Artist, and Educational Consultant, my philosophy is “Be more than your environment presents and defy societal views.”  Art gave me liberty, a voice, a place, and faith. These are the seeds I have in my students and everyone I meet. We never know the challenges others face daily; however, we know how we can make someone feel, and they will never forget that. This is the essence of art.

In art, I aim to ensure that students view culturally diverse representations so they will respect, appreciate, and celebrate one another. This will allow them to understand the importance of cultures and recognize that we aren’t very different. Life is about growth and development. The more you know and experience, the more uniquely creative you can be. This adds value to you as a person and a professional. More so, it allows us to adapt and sustain. I say that to say this-- We are often put in situations and positions that we may know very little about. Still, we can find commonalities when we can communicate effectively and efficiently. This is the key to life: finding likeness, not differences.
