This unit will consist of five major teaching components, each designed to integrate scientific learning, artistic development, and cultural relevance: visit to the zoo, art history components looking at a few paintings about animals in zoos, looking at the work of Alebrijes and contemporary artist, studying the paintings, of Lorie Hogin and responding to here work, while making connections to their own, moreover; using her ideas and storytelling to create their own work, and finally creating visual art work both two and three dimensional art pieces to go along with all the research, field experience of visiting the zoo.
