Standards
This unit is compatible with 9-10th grade common core state standards for literacy in science and can easily be adjusted to meet standards above and below this range. Several of these standards include RST.9.10.1 and 10.2 pertaining to the ability to read a grade level technical text and extract from it the central idea, evidence to support a scientific concept, and the ability to depict a complex process and summarize it. Students are also responsible for using RST.9-10.7, and 10.9 which asks them to translate textual information into a table or a graphic and to compare and contrast various resource during analysis.
