My Philosophy of Visual Arts Instruction

As a professional photographer, artist, and educational consultant, my philosophy is “Be more than your environment presents and defy societal views”.  Art gave me liberty, a voice, a place, and faith. These, I believe, are present also in everyone I meet. Kindness and compassion are essential, and we cultivate them through collaboration, which in turn enhances social skills. We may never know the challenges others face daily; however, we understand how we can make someone feel, and they will never forget that. This is the essence of art. In art, my goal is to foster an environment where students respect one another. This will allow them to understand the importance of cultures and recognize that we are not as different as we think. Life is about continual growth and development. The more you know and experience, the more uniquely creative you can be. This adds value to you as a person and a professional. Moreover, it enables us to adapt and sustain. If we are put in a situation or position about which we know very little. If we can communicate effectively and efficiently, we can discover commonalities, and that, essentially, is the key to life: finding likeness within our differences.
