Teaching Strategies and Activities

I teach art and photography. My students will use scientific methods to observe art, a skill I have employed subconsciously for years myself. For a long period of time, STEM was the focus. Then it became STEAM. The arts are critical to learning and student engagement. Early in my career, I wanted my students to be successful, so I would study the best artwork and break it down into layers of creation. Then, I would have my students add the missing details to their own work. It was a slow process, but progress was made. The students began to use these steps and achieved great success.
